region Barossa Valley
size 3x750ml

Our third release of this wine. The classic 2018 season was kind to both Barossa floor Cabernet and Shiraz. The majority of fruit for this wine comes from the Southern Barossa. The Cabernet Sauvignon portion was sourced from the outstanding Cameron Vale vineyard, with the Shiraz picked from the 100- year-old Filsell vineyard adding to the pedigree of the wine. Winemaker, Craig Stansborough

GRAPE VARIETY - Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz

COLOUR - Rich dark purple, almost ink, with a bright and deep purple hue.

NOSE - Cabernet dominates on the nose; rich and powerful. Lots of upfront cassis and choc mint, with beautifully integrated layers of smoked meats and tobacco leaf.

PALATE - There is no holding back on the palate, with rich and powerful fruit. Lots of dark red fruits dominating the middle palate, with notes of chocolate layered in the background. Brilliantly balanced with warm spice and sweet vanilla, that are influenced by the oak usage and a firm tannin structure.

PEAK DRINKING - 2031+

FOOD MATCH - Roasted red meats and rich chocolate desserts

Gold Medal Barossa Wine Show 2021

96 GOLD POINTS - Halliday Companion 2022 - "56.4/43.1/0.7% cabernet sauvignon/ shiraz/other, from vines aged 20–120 yo. Matured 18 months in 18% new French oak hogsheads, then barrel selected. One of the most exciting modern additions to the extensive Grant Burge portfolio, a cracking rendition that epitomises the integrity and endurance of the great Australian blend in the Barossa. Impenetrable in depth and vibrant in hue, contrasting blackcurrant and blackberry fruit density and a crunch of vibrant energy. Super-fine, commanding tannins, great fruit drive and high-class French oak make for impressive potential." Tyson Stelzer

96 POINTS - Huon Hooke

ANDREW CALLIARD - 93 POINTS - Deep crimson. Blackcurrant, dark chocolate, mocha herb garden aromas with flinty, mineral notes. Generous, inky deep and sinuous with plentiful dark berry fruits, pronounced fine-grained/ brambly/ leafy textures and integrated mocha notes. Finishes cedary firm with bitter-sweet chinotto/ blackcurrant notes. Vigorous wine with plenty of richness and torque. Keep for a while. Drink 2023-2032

JAMES SUCKLING - 93 POINTS “…. Mulberries, dark plums, dried herbs, cedar and baking spices. Intense blackberry character, too. Full-bodied with plush tannins and fresh acidity. Chalky texture on the palate with plenty of fruit and a flavorful finish.”
